A Thoughtful, Collaborative Approach to Therapy

Therapy that is evidence-based and shaped around you.

Our Approach

Therapy works best when it feels supportive, collaborative, and free of judgment. We offer a space where you can show up as you are, explore what may be keeping you stuck, and move toward change that feels meaningful and sustainable.

Our work is integrative and shaped around you.

We draw from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based work, and somatic approaches, while remaining trauma-informed and culturally responsive.

The heart of our work is deepening your understanding of your emotions, patterns, and nervous system responses. With insight comes the ability to feel more grounded, connected, and confident in your life.

Therapist and client

Rather than following a rigid formula, our work is guided by YOUR goals, YOUR pace, and what feels most supportive for where you are right now.

A Note from Our Clinical Director

– Myah Izzard, Registered Psychotherapist

I created The Vital Light Psychotherapy Co. to offer therapy that is compassionate, evidence-based, and genuinely human.

With a background in Neuroscience and Mental Health, I understand how early experiences, trauma, attachment, and environment shape brain development, emotional regulation and overall well-being. This foundation continues to inform how I think about healing – not as something separate from the body or brain, but as an integrated process.

My hope is to provide a space where you don’t have to navigate challenges alone – where growth, clarity, and meaningful change can unfold over time.

Get to Know Me

Fun Drink Lover: I love a fun drink! A chai tea latte is my go-to comfort order, with a London fog as a close second.

Slow-Living Dreamer: I dream of one day calling the country home – where nature is endless and rural life moves at a slower pace.

Cozy Unwinder: My favourite way to decompress after a long day is curled up on the couch in comfy PJs, snack in hand, deep into a binge-worthy TV show.

Movement for Mind & Body: A good workout always leaves me feeling refreshed, grounded, and motivated – it’s one of my favourite ways to reset!

Sunshine & Fresh Air Lover: I love being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, hiking, and spending quiet moments relaxing on my front porch.

Home Design Enthusiast: I love interior design, home décor and am constantly rearranging things around my home – just for fun (and vibes).

Principles that Guide Our Work

1.

Human-Centred, Not Prescriptive

You are not a diagnosis or a checklist. Your experiences, emotions, and patterns make sense in context. Therapy is shaped around who you are – not who you’re “supposed” to be.

2.

Insight That Leads to Change

Understanding yourself more deeply creates real momentum. We focus on connecting insight with action – so awareness translates into meaningful, sustainable shifts in how you feel, think, and relate.

3.

Evidence-Based, Thoughtfully Applied

Research matters, but so does nuance. We draw from evidence-based approaches while staying flexible and responsive to what actually works for you in real life.

4.

Whole-Person Care

Emotions live in the body and past experiences shape how we engage with the world today. We consider the full picture – mind, body, identity, culture, relationships, and environment – recognizing how cultural context informs healing and growth.

5.

Compassion with Honesty

A warm, non-judgmental space doesn’t mean avoiding hard conversations. Therapy here is supportive and direct, allowing room for care, curiosity, and the kinds of questions that lead to deeper reflection.

6.

Collaboration Over Authority

You are the expert on your life. Therapy is a shared process where your voice, boundaries, and goals guide the work. We move together adjusting pace, focus, and direction as needed.

7.

Inclusivity & Respect

Your identity and experience matters. We provide a safe, affirming space for all gender identities, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds, ensuring therapy is guided by respect, understanding, and care.

The Meaning Behind The Vital Light

Even during periods of distress, there is something vital within you – an inner clarity, resilience, or sense of self – that can feel dimmed but is never gone.

Therapy is not about fixing what’s broken. It’s about reconnecting with what already exists. Light represents insight and self-understanding; Vital reflects what is essential – your values, emotional needs, and the parts of yourself that deserve care and attention.

Our practice exists to help you reconnect with that inner light and move forward with greater intention and self-compassion.
